Fire and Ice Salad
3/4 cup white vinegar
1 1/2 teaspoon mustard seed
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon red pepper (ground) or to taste, start with a pinch
1/4 cup cold water
1 1/2 teaspoon celery salt
1/4 teaspoon salt
4 1/2 teaspoon sugar
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
6 tomatoes peeled and quartered (fresh summer tomatoes is the best;
they MUST be peeled - boil in water for a few minutes and skin comes right off)
1 green pepper sliced in strips
1 cucumber sliced
1 red onion, sliced
Bring first 9 ingredients to a boil and boil for 1 minute.
Allow to cool slightly and then pour over veggies and chill.
Note: This is a GREAT summer time salad.
You actually can add any kind of vegetable - squash, carrots, etc.
