Christmas Cut-out Cookies
    ---
     1/2 cup butter
    1/2 c. sugar
     l  egg yolk, beaten
    1/2  tsp. vanilla
                 l 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1 1/2 cups flour
    3 Tbsp. milk
    1/4 tsp. salt
     
                 Preheat oven to 375 degrees
                 In a large bowl, cream butter  and sugar with an electric mixer. Beat in egg yolk and vanilla. Add baking powder and flour, 1/2 cup
    at a time alternately with the milk, mixing after each addition.
    Chill dough thoroughly.  Roll out 1/4 thick on lightly floured surface. Dip
    cutters in flour before each use.  Decorate cookies with sugar sprinkles before baking or bake plain and frost later. Bake cookies
    6-7 minutes, or until cookies are lightly browned.

                 Cookie Icing:
    (This icing dries to a shiny, hard finish and tastes good.
    Great to use for icing or outline and fill in with a tip #2 or #3.)
                 l cup sifted confectioners sugar
                 2 tsp. milk
                 2 tsp. light corn syrup
                 l tsp. vanilla
    paste food coloring for vivid colors, on the tip of a toothpick, or
    liquid food coloring for pastel shades, a drop or two
    ---
                 Place sugar and milk in bowl, Stir until mixed thoroughly. Add corn syrup and vanilla and mix well. Divid among small dishes and color as desired.
    For filling in areas, use thinned icing (add small
                 amounts of light corn syrup until desired consistency is reached)
